Welcome to Beyond Gymnastics!

our story imageThe story of Beyond Gymnastics begins with the owner and founder Briana Dogherra (formerly Briana Porzelt).  From a young age Briana took gymnastics classes and fell in love with the sport. Through the years being in classes she started volunteering at the gym and then when she was old enough, she began working as a coach. Coaching classes turned into managing gyms and her passion for the sport never faded.

Briana enjoyed working with the younger classes and so went to Grand Canyon University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Teaching. After working in preschools Briana missed the gym environment and so Beyond Gymnastics was born. With her family’s support, who you can’t miss when they are in the gym because of their loud fun-loving Italian nature, a crazy dream of opening a gymnastics gym was born.

Our gym opened in 2018 renting spaces from the Star Pointe community center in Estrella Mountain Ranch in Goodyear, AZ. With portable equipment and mats Briana taught new students how to do handstands and tumble. From there class sizes grew and her name in the community started to spread.

Briana met her business partner and co-owner Tom Gerlach when his daughter was taking classes. Tom saw that Briana and Beyond Gymnastics had big potential and with his experience running his own business “Triple Diamonds Handyman Services” he decided to join the team.

After many meetings it was decided that Beyond Gymnastics needed its own facility and bigger permanent equipment. With a skip and a hurdle, they moved into a building down Estrella Parkway where they could continue growing. In only two years Briana and Tom had to meet again as classes were filled to the max and more space was needed.

Now after five years, the gym is growing again. We expanded our Main Gym by remodeling the facility to have large dedicated areas for our Junior side and our Youth side classes and a significant sized room for our Little Leaping Learners Program and Seasonal Camps. The transformation of the Main Gym allows for more floor space, new equipment, and the ability for parents to easily view all ages of siblings participating in classes. Students continue flourishing by building skills and learning values, such as dedication, perseverance, and how to work hard to achieve their goals. Our gym has filled a need within the community to have a safe and uplifting place for kids and families to come and enjoy gymnastics. We appreciate all our families that come to us long-term from the beginning and those that are recent additions to the gym. We look forward to watching the growth and opportunity that the future has in store for Beyond Gymnastics.
